NextGround careers

Help teachers find their next ground.

We are a small, fully remote team of educators building the career mobility platform we wish we had. Every person here was a classroom educator first.

  • Remote

    Anywhere in the USA

  • Central

    Time zone home base

  • Educators

    Every single role

Two ways in

Which one sounds like you?

Practitioner

Former teachers who have pivoted into another field and can tell fellows what the work is really like. About 15 hours a month as a 1099 contractor.

  • Two live calls a month
  • Portfolio feedback
  • Paid 1:1 sessions
  • Your own pathway

What we are looking for

  • You were a K-12 educator first
  • You work in the role you would teach
  • You give specific, kind, actionable feedback on portfolio artifacts
  • You respond to requests and questions in a timely way
  • You can lead two live calls a month

Perks just for practitioners

Income

Earn extra through 1:1 sessions

Practitioners take on 1:1 coaching and Prep Sessions with educators and earn on top of cohort work.

For everyone

What it is like to work here

I will know you by name

I am the founder, and I will personally know every person who works with NextGround. You will always be able to reach me, and when you need a reference letter or a LinkedIn recommendation, I will write it myself.

Remote, anywhere in the USA

Work from your own kitchen table, your favorite coffee shop, or your couch. We run on Central time, and our NextGround crew members, the educators in our programs, join us from every U.S. time zone.

We all speak education

Everyone here speaks the same language, and we are all learning new ones along the way.

A genuinely fun team

We take the mission seriously and we have fun doing it.

Be part of a growing team

We are early, which means your ideas become the product. People who build with us now help decide what NextGround becomes.

Once a NextGrounder, always one

Free access to our content and community, long after your project ends.

Built around the school year

Report card week and testing season will never be held against you.

A seat in product decisions

You help shape what we build, and you hear how it lands with members.

Shout-outs and handwritten notes

Anniversaries, wins, and hard weeks all get noticed by a real person.

Our values

How we run calls, give feedback and decide

  1. 1

    Kindness

We are kind, which is different from being nice.

  2. 2

    Directness

Clear is kind and unclear is unkind. Direct is not rude.

  3. 3

    Feedback in every direction

Up, down, and sideways, because everyone here is learning.

  4. 4

    Transparency

What we know, what we do not know, and what we are willing to learn.

  5. 5

    Learn your people

We skip the golden rule and treat people how they want to be treated, which means asking.

  6. 6

    Hard work

We care about the outcome more than what is in it for me.

  7. 7

    Stewardship

Time, people, and resources are entrusted to us. They are not ours.

  8. 8

    Servant leadership

We pick up the shovel. Nobody gets a pedestal.

  9. 9

Right does not always equal just

We choose the just thing, even when it is slower.

No one is coming to save us, so we are going to save ourselves.

The vision

Where we are going

We share the whole picture, including what we cannot offer yet.
